It's important that every new employee is successful, starting with their first day of employment.
To facilitate that objective, it’s pretty likely that you have some general ideas about what you would like a new employee to accomplish in the first 90 days and first year of employment.
There is nothing more important or cost effective, for a manager and their company, than to make certain that every new employee starts off in the right direction, in support of the company and departmental goals and objectives.
Establishing goals can be as simple or as complex as the position requires. In general though, you should consider goals that support the overall company objectives and that are above all, achievable. Goals can be simply stated and where possible, should include measurable criteria or milestones with which to evaluate progress.
To support the performance of your new hire, we strongly suggest that that you take advantage of an opportunity to provide us with any performance measures that are related to the position. This will give us a better understanding of the job expectations and requirements when screening candidates.
It's probably easiest to identify what you think would be good first year annual goals. You should also see if you may be able to develop any shorter term, 90 day goals, that you think appropriate.
If you provide us with goals for the position, we will include that as part of our screening criteria when interviewing potential candidates.
